WHAT THE SCRIPTURES SAY ABOUT HIM

Isaiah 42:1-4

Jesus is the ultimate Elect One, our election is really a matter of being chosen in Jesus.

The ministry of the Servant, the Messiah, would not be restricted to the Jewish people. He would also have a ministry to the Gentiles, bringing justice and righteousness to them.

The Servant is gentle, but not weak. He will bring forth justice for truth. There aren’t two ways about it; it will happen, and failure or discouragement will not stop the Servant.

John 14:6

Jesus didn’t say that He would show us a way; He said that He is the way. He didn’t promise to teach us a truth; He said that He is the truth. Jesus didn’t offer us the secrets to life; He said that He is the life.

Jesus made this remarkable statement, claiming that He was the only way to God. In this He set aside the temple and its rituals, as well as other religions. It was a claim to have an exclusive way, truth, and life – the only pathway to God the Father, the true God in heaven.

John 5:46

Jesus said of the Scriptures that they testify of Me (John 5:39). The words and writings of Moses fulfill this, prophetically speaking of the Messiah in many places.

i. The LORD your God will raise up for you a Prophet like me from your midst, from your brethren. Him you shall hear. (Deuteronomy 18:15)

iii. Jesus was typified in the rock that gave Israel water in the wilderness (Numbers 20:8-12 and 1 Corinthians 10:4).

Philippians 2:5-11

This describes Jesus’ pre-incarnate existence. We must remind ourselves that Jesus did not begin His existence in the manger at Bethlehem, but is eternal God

This describes how Jesus emptied Himself. Though he took the form of a bondservant, Jesus did not empty Himself of His deity, or of any of His attributes, or of His equality with God. He emptied Himself into the form of a bondservant, not merely the form of a man.

This verse, with its clear statement of Jesus’ deity, is powerful ammunition against those who deny the deity of Jesus Christ. There is no higher name than Yahweh, and Jesus has that name.

John 1:1 sets forth one of the most basic foundations of our faith – the Trinity. We can follow John’s logic:

· There is a Being known as the Word.

· This Being is God, because He is eternal (In the beginning).

· This Being is God, because He is plainly called God (the Word was God).

· At the same time, this Being does not encompass all that God is. God the Father is a distinct Person from the Word (the Word was with God).

John 1:1

If you’d like to give your life to the Lord today, repeat after me:

"Dear God, I come to you as a sinner in need of your forgiveness. I believe that Jesus died on the cross my sins and rose. I ask you to come into my heart be my Lord and Savior. Thank you for your grace and mercy. Amen."
